If you are anything like me you love to read and understand that the more you learn the more you earn. Make no mistake your BI or your Business Intelligence is directly related to your current level of income in your chosen industry. The good news is that reading is one of the best ways to improve your net worth. I realize some people like reading books of fiction and that’s great, but if you want to improve your income you need to be reading books from people who are more successful then you are or have created something you want to also create for your business or organization.

I just finished reading a book called “REWORK”

Here are 3 things I can personally relate too based on the book REWORK by 37 signals.
1. Launch your products when they are ready not when they are absolutely the best ever.
Don’t wait so long to implement a new strategy or a new product or service because I would focus on it having to be so perfect that by the time it was going to be released it was time for the next project. Don’t fall into this trap. Create, Prepare, and Execute. Continue to improve all facets of your business especially your products. This is an ongoing process.

2. Don’t Over Pay Your Employees
Your team whether they are traditional employees or working as contractors with your company are motivated by way more then money. The first time I started generating more and more net profit I thought I could keep some of my key staff by paying them more and more. Unfortunately, I can tell you first hand that money is only part of it. The simple things like recognition, team building, mentoring and giving your team some leeway to be creative and have fun can be way more important then exactly how big their bonuses are.

3. Work Like A Professional Athlete
Staying up until 4:00 am working can be a lot of fun and really exciting but when you have meetings in the day you can’t expect to get a way with this too often and still play your A game. Working smart continues to get way more real results then just trying to put yourself into an early grave. On the occasion when you need to stay up late to take a few key steps, great but just realize you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Focus on keeping a balance between the different areas of your life by looking at the big picture and taking into consideration your long term health.

I highly recommend picking up a copy and will be checking to see if I can purchase this book for my iPhone or perhaps iPad.
